I wanted to give a quick update on the progress of the design and construction of my art studio. I last posted on my blog in April, before construction drawings were even complete. Designed by me, my studio construction started in early July, and has been going steady ever since- progress has been excellent so far!
I don't have a PDF file yet for the floor plans, so here's a photo of the first floor plan, next to a photo of the studio I took the other day.

Dan (my builder), and I have made several changes to the floor plan. Primarily I've taken out all the built-ins on the first floor, in order to open up the floor space. As you can see from the plan, there are stairs. The stairs lead up to the second level, my loft space.
I'll post some more pictures as we progress. I'm still working on interior finishes. It's not easy! For instance, the hardwood flooring I chose, apparently does not come with stair treads. Since I have stairs, that would mean that each tread would have seams in it, rather than one piece of wood. So, still hunting, and hunting....
I finished a painting today, Vases. I haven't picked up a brush, a pencil, a marker, or anything the entire month of August- until today! Until next time, Shann
I can't believe it's been over one whole month since I last posted! Time just flies right by. I hope your summer has been going well. We are having a fantastic stretch of sun in Seattle with no rain. Yep- we are getting worried at the possibility that next week Tuesday, Seattle will have set a NEW record for the most consecutive days without rain!! The sun is great, but... I do miss the rain :)
Summer sale on my website now! Been thinking of purchasing one of my original paintings? I am currently having a summer sale on my pieces- 20% off marked prices!

Alex Katz paintings were inspiring from the mid century. Had never seen his work in person before so it was a treat. Until next time, Shann
