The Magpie by Claude Monet
I just returned from a trip to California. While visiting our son and his wife in San Francisco, I had an amazing trip to the Legion of Honor Museum. On view right now is an excellent show running through May 29th- Monet: The Early Years. DO NOT miss this show if you love impressionist painting and Claude Monet. The public and art historians, are accustomed to his later work, mostly while living in Giverny, especially his water lily paintings. But this show follows him as he starts his career as a painter. Having been to Giverny, I can only say I highly recommend this show which completes his biography- his early life and the struggles he had to gain recognition as a painter. Who knew that many of his early paintings were rejected by the Paris Salon. By the way, expect crowds. We were there on a Tuesday morning and it was packed!
Until next time, Shann
