I have had a productive last few weeks with painting almost every day. It makes me so happy, fulfilled, and is my job! With all of our trips canceled due to Covid, we are trying to take some small day trips. Most businesses are still partially closed here. We have been supporting restaurants by ordering take-out many nights. Of course sadly, many local restaurants have closed- some permanently.
But on a happier note, I'm starting a new series of birdsong paintings. Now that summer has arrived, the windows are open and the birds are singing their happy songs- my favorite! After several representational paintings I've completed, I needed a little variation in painting (and a break from rigidity), so the birdsong pieces are intuitive, colorful and very playful. I don't have any idea of what I'm going to paint when I sit down. Only the image of birdsong. I place the first brushstroke, and go from there until I'm satisfied with the results!
So these are abstract, non-representational, intuitive pieces- and I am loving the "bohemian" results. What do you think? Don't know how many more I will do- stay tuned!
